Meet Mubeen

Pakistan

Since her father died, her family has struggled to survive. They can’t go to school
anymore, and they hardly have any food to eat. Sharing one small room, they barely have any
possessions. They live next to a river of sewage, and when heavy rains come, the river overflows and
contaminated water floods their room.

Even though Mubeen can’t go to school anymore because her family cannot afford it, she still wears her
school uniform because it reminds her of better days.

Children are the most vulnerable group of people. In countries where war, famine and poverty are
common, millions of children are orphaned and left hungry or homeless. Many more are exploited
as cheap labor when they are forced to care for themselves. Over 143 million children worldwide are
orphaned by one or both parents. In many places, orphaned children are forgotten and left to fend for
themselves. They aren’t given the chance they deserve to develop like most other children.

Can you imagine a better world for orphans like Mubeen?

For children like Mubeen, help is needed now.

Each year, Islamic Relief USA’s donors sponsor between 7,000 and 8,500 orphans in 22 countries. With our global partner Islamic Relief Worldwide, the total number sponsored has reached 27,000 a year. Each child receives food, clothing and an education. The support is often enough to lift an orphan’s entire family out of poverty.
